Hey! Everyone back with another blog! Today I would like to introduce everyone to StylAsylum an upcoming styling consulting group in the Washington,DC area. They have made a lot of people heads turn on Facebook and Twitter with many of their projects; from doing prom sessions, photoshoots and even music videos for local artist in the DC area. With their motto “I want to make you look good, but I want to make you feel even better” they have the power and determination to stay true to their saying by making the everyday person feel wonderful, look great with lots of confidence and self-esteem whether it’s fabulous styling with clothes from the hottest racks and glamorous photos taken with a click of the lens with Sharnice Breeden, getting cut and styled in the latest colorful weaves or dyes with Nicole Hawkins or getting your face beautifully beaten with abstract pop colors or sexy dark Catwoman glam with also a “Funky”( as she says for unique) weave hook up or with a bombsmooth cut wigs by Ebonie Jones (she is also a hairstylist forStylAsylumas well). You can be assured that StylAsylum is the consulting team for you no matter what the occasion might be!Today I had a chance to chat with Lead Stylist and Project Coordinator ofStylAsylum Ms. Sharnice Breeden,24 via Facebook to tell me aboutStylAsylum,How did she come up with the name and upcoming projects they have on the way.
ThePatriceTales: So, tell me about yourself…
Sharnice: My name is Sharnice Breeden. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Washington where I studied Fashion and Retail Management . I am a t-shirt designer and I work as a fashion stylist for an up and coming recording artist out of Washington,DC area. In addition to that, I also do freelancegraphic design work as well as marketing and brand development. Right Now I am the Lead Stylist and Project Coordinator of a company I started called Styl Asylum.
ThePatriceTales: Tell me about STYLASYLUM. How did you come up with the name and the idea of the brand?
Sharnice: StylAsylum is an image consulting group that specializes in the aesthetics and visual image of our clients. We aim to help our clients look and feel their best whether it be on a photo shoot, appearance, or special occasion.StylAsylum consists of myself, Nicole Hawkins, the Lead Hair Stylist and Ebonie Jones,25 the Make-Up Artist and Cosmetologist. Together, we are able to cater to the needs of our clients no matter what the occasion. StylAsylum is available for head-to-toe styling on photo shoots, videos, special occasions/events, appearances, and fashion shows.I have always been a lover of fashion and took an interest in the power that it has with regards to shaping and creating a very specific image. I wanted to start a company that specialized in creating those images; combining fashion, style and marketing. So far, we are beginning small but with a strong start nonetheless. The name StylAsylum came from my desire to combine my love of fashion and interest in marketing with the talents of the best make-up artists and hair stylists. My thought was:“putting us together would be CRAZY!”, so I thought of the name Styl Asylum.
ThePatriceTales: So why fashion? What is this your passion? What is your drive??
Sharnice:I have loved fashion since I was a small child unlike many young girls. My interest, however, was much more artistic; I was more in love with the creativity and design rather than name brands. I started sketching fashion drawings when I was 12 and fashion has been extremely relevant in my life ever since. My drive is to do what I love and be successful at it. When designing, I enjoy watching and taking part in producing something that started merely as an idea. When styling, I love telling a story with fashion, combining my vision with my clients’ needs and personality. My motto is “I want to make you look good, but I want to make you feel even better” and I truly do believe that. I can’t see myself doing anything else and I pride myself in following my dreams.
Sharnice: Like I stated earlier, I am a t-shirt designer. I work independently but I am also the Design Manager for an apparel company called Devious Society which is based in North Carolina and New York.
ThePatriceTales: What are you most proud about in your company STYL ASYLUM???
Sharnice: I am most proud of the fact that this was something that I thought about and planned for and it is now a reality. I can see this company blossoming into something much more in the future. I am very thankful for Nicole Hawkins and Ebonie Jones for sharing my vision and love for this company.

ThePatriceTales: Where do you see STYLASYLUM in the next to five years??
Sharnice: In the next five years I see Styl Asylum expanding into more areas of brand development, talent and artist development along with the services that we already provide. I am looking forward to working with more people and taking on challenging and innovative projects.
ThePatriceTales: What other things you like to do when not doing fashion or dealing withSTYLASYLUM??
Sharnice: I love all forms of the arts and always have so when I am not doing something that has a direct connection to fashion, it is typically some other way for me to be creative. Photography, drawing, sewing, graphic design, and painting are all a few things that I enjoy.
