BET AWARDS '11

*Note: Sorry for the late entry about the BET Awards I had a lot going on,but I wanted to post this ASAP this week since the BET Awards came on this Sunday and again on Tuesday. Sorry everyone.....

Sunday night like most people I was tuning into the BET Awards. After days of waiting to see what they had in stored for everyone they turned out to be disappointing, boring and wacky. It seem like the BET staff just laid around all last year until June to wake and say "Oh snap the BET Awards shoot" and rushed the show the best way that could and it was tacky, strange and odd as I thought. So with out further a due here is my run down of the BET AWARDS:

The Theme- Was I the only one who felt that we were in "Wonderland"?? I mean who thought of that setup? If that was the idea they sure did make me fell like Alice lost and freaking confused just like the movie.

The Opening Act: Mary J.Blige- I thought she was dry in the beginning. I didn't like her performance not only that I thought the verse in Biggie song "F****ing an R&B B**** "where he says "I would go to jail if I f***ed Patti Labelle should have been blurred out not just out respect, but she was being horned that night and it just wrong to me anyhow. I mean yeah the song is old,but come on now. If she wanted Biggie part to come up about her that is all she had to play. Anyway, the only thing that stood out to me was when Mary brought out Anita Baker with them both singing "Rapture" together. I love that song! Always will be a classic!! Everything else was blah to me including DJ "SHUT YOUR ASS UP" Khaled.

Opening Credits: Yes I peeped that too. Of course MC Lyte did her thing ,but who ever typed up people names didn't. They messed up Justin Bieber and Shirley Ceasar last names smh.

Kevin Heart- He was alright. Before the awards show I didn't find him funny noways, but I told my self that I would give him a try on the awards Sunday night. I did laugh at some of his jokes, but I wasn't cracking up on the floor like some people were. I laughed at his jokes when he was going in on the crowd on celebs such as Busta Rhymes saying "his vest look like a big brain" and Trey Songz look like a beige greyhound". Of course I laughed at how he went on Jamie Foxx for fighting at a Usher concert lmao. Now that was funny! Not to also mention Iam glad he got on Diddy ass about changing his name again. Why would you turn your name from Diddy to Swag?? WTF? So what is your group gonna be called "Swagg Dirty Money"?? Also he talked about getting to Jaden Smith's Tiger pants and Rick Ross needing a Sports Bra lol. Kevin Heart did a nice job not too bad.

The Presenters- Only presenters that sounded very professional were Tracy Ellis Ross,Malcolm Jamal-Warner and Nia Long. Maybe because they are professional actors. Everybody else was thinking too hard while they was saying there lines. They looked and sounded corny like they were doing a school play.

The Real Husbands of Hollywood- I really like that! That was very funny. Kevin Heart cracked me up with the "Non MotherF***ing Factor" T-shirt on lol. I really cracked up when Kevin had Mariah on his back while Nick Cannon walked in LMAO. They was too funny. Then of course my girl Tammi came on the scene and gave a show as well. They cracked me up. My only thing is Bobby Brown didn't talk as much. Why was that???

Ace Hood ft Rick Ross and Lil Wayne- I love Rick Ross music his songs be getting me very hype and they just be crankin'. Well not during that dry as performance of  "Aston Martin Music". First of all that song is getting played and then where was Drake and Michelle??? I was like hurry up please with this dry shit. Anyway after all that slow mess, Ace Hood came out rapping "Hustle Hard" with Rick Ross and Lil Wayne coming on the stage.  The performance was alright. I wasn't feeling it as much, but was jamming to the beat.

Jill Scott- I love Jill Scott! I even have her radio station on my Pandora app,but I wasn't into her performance like that as well. I was glad to see she brought something different to the stage with the whole cafe' scene. I thought that was cool, but everything was okay nothing I haven't seen before. She did manage to bring out Idris Elba to spice up things though with lots of chemistry going on between them two.

Alicia Keys- Please tell me why everytime BET choose her to perform she always take us back down to memory lane on the damn Piano??? It's like Alicia can you hit us with one of your new songs please?? I did like how she did the Orchestra part in the beginning with the Beethoven no5 song. What I didn't like that was too odd that she started to sing the chorus to "Maybach Music 2" which came out on Rick Ross CD in 2009 WTF? No to mention Rick Ross comes out of nowhere sing a rap verse leaves and she go back into her songs???? I didn't find that exciting. I was bored...NEXT

Trey Songz/Kelly Rowland- Thank You for waking me up!!!! Iam not a #TreyAngel and I think he still sound like a billy goat, but he did bring the show some life while he sung "Love Faces". Of course he took off his shirt for his fans as usual lol.  He also happen to bring out Kelly Rowland to spice things up. She was new and fresh. Someone worth to see. She came out in all black and as people say "Janet Jackson inspired" outfit and gave the everyone sexy moves while she sung "Motivation". She even did a dance break number and then Trey joined her for the remix and she was giving him the business. Sometimes I wonder did Kelly lose her V-card or something?? Oh yeah I forgot Beyonce's dad is no longer her manager so she going in the direction she want to go in right! lol. They did the damn thing I know that much!

Chris Brown- ::sighs:: Don't get me wrong Iam all for #TeamBreezy and yes he is very talent, but this performance didn't catch my eye at all. I have seen better from Chris Brown and this wasn't one of them. He started off with "All I want is you" and and then he did "Look At Me Know" with Busta Rhymes and it wasn't nothing special about it  to me at all. It's like okay Chris Brown we seen that already...NEXT. I know what did catch my eye though that damn suit lol. Yeah alot of Chris Brown fans were defending the joint, but I think is was funny. It just caught me off guard like WTF??? All I saw was no arms and two bubbles. I was confused as shit. After he took the outfit off I finally got that the suit was an illusion to make it seem like his suit was puff up or  he wanted people to know how he do that if he had no arms? I just thought it was crazy and so did most of Twitter. That is why his pants have it's own Twitter account @chrisbrownpants smh lol.

The R.I.P Segment- Another part that caught me off guard. I was lost when dude out of now where just started playing the saxophone. I was like huh??? It was so random. I didn't even know that that segment was for the people who had passed until Snoop and Warren G came out to do "Regulators". I was like ooh okay I see where this is going. I really felt that Kevin Heart or someone should have came out and said "Now let's honor those who are not here" and said who is performing what smh. I really really enjoyed Ledsi paying tribute to Teena Marie singing "Out Of The Limb". I love that song and she did a wonderful job! I didn't know the poet name, but I know Queen Latifah did a good job reciting the poem as well too!

Nicki and Justin- So this segment was suppose to be who have the most Twitter followers. It all was cool until Nicki was saying sexual things to Justin. I mean yeah Justin about to be 18,but I just thought it was very corny and like I said about the other performers sounded like a school play. Not to mention Nicki #teambarbie look like they stepped out a GoGo and her outfit look like it came from Susan Fashions.

The Five Heartbeats- That was a shocker! I was glad to see them. Everyone my age and older know about this movie it was a classic. It was cool to find out that it was the movie's 25th annviversy because last week I was thinking about buying at Walmart just to watch and sing along. On another note why did Eddie Kane look just like he did in the movie? It look like he been stuck in his character for ever lol.

Steve Harvey- Steve Harvey won the Humanitarian Award that night and all I thought about just like everyone else "Please Don't Cry" lol.

Patti Labelle- she also was horned for the Lifetime Achievement Award which is my favorite part of the show. I enjoyed this one as well next to Kelly performance. The tribute was wonderful starting off with Cee-Lo who had on a Patti Signature wig along with hairspray spraying his hair while he sung  "Somebody Loves You Baby". He was getting it!! Marsha Ambrosius killed "Only You Knew" and she looked lovely as well! Last, but not least Pastor Shirley Cesar took the stage and tore the house down singing even though people was saying she looked like Glenda the Good Witch and the tooth fairy I thought she looked wonderful.

The Gospel segment- Of course everyone did a good job Mary Mary, Donnie and Detrick, but sometimes I feel like BET just put gospel in the awards for brownie points from Christans The reason I say that is because some award shows have skipped out gospel performances and categories. So when they add gospel I just be like hmmmm??? Did they run out of performers or what?

Drake ft Rick Ross and Lil Wayne- I love this song!!! I thought the performance was okay. Kind of dull just a bit,but I did dug the laser lights though that was cool. DJ "I Never Shut The Fuck Up" Khaled needed to sit down we know he represent some of today's artist, but he don't have to shout and be everywhere sheesh. It was cool at first, but now it's like okay DJ Khaled sit down. Lil Wayne like most rappers bounce around the stage they call it "Swag" I called it "tight ass pants".

Last, but not least.... Beyonce- Alot of people were mad because she was via satellite. Not me I already knew ahead of time being a Beyonce fan. I she song a new song "Best I Never Had" and some other new song. I like that Beyonce doing something different with her music. Alot people aren't feeling the international vibe and beats she doing with this CD,but my thing is if she still did song like from DL and BDAY then people will be like she doing the same shit can she do something new. I don't know, but on to her performance I thought it was BLAH it looked like the end of the performance of Run The World at the  Billboard Awards with the female dancers, flags and pyro. I thought she was going to do something else. I don't know wasn't really impressed. I love Beyonce' trust me,but not that performance.

Other than that the BET awards could have done better and next year I expect better. I f I missed anything please feel free to tell me about it and I will added it in...

Growing up...

When I was younger in my teenage days. I really didn't give a damn about anybody, but myself. I didn't care to be responsible or not. I really thought I had everything and I didn't have to work hard for it at all. As I became older THAT WAS A LIE. Life became uneasy for me and I learned what it meant to take of responsibility. Even before I had my daughter's. I had to find a job and do things for me because asking my mom for money all the time was getting old. As I was getting older so was alot of things and even people had been cut out my life. I had to let them go because it was time to and they were the reasons I felt I wasn't maturing or finding who I was in life. I was so busy with my focus on shit that didn't matter.

When I became a mother my eyes really opened up and I saw how reality and the real world was very serious. I guess you can say I woke up lol. I mean I was already woke up anyway as soon as I got my first job,but I really see how it to take care of kids and your house hold. Don't get me wrong I love motherhood. So don't think Iam struggling or I can't handle being a mother and its tough. I got this and to me being a parent is not hard. Especially when you have your suppose helping out as well. Anyway, back to what I was saying, but yeah I really feel that I have matured alot and grown up alot. Alot of things are in my past and I have moved on and Iam happy!

Red Carpet Fashion: Hot or Not????

This year alot of celebs took as BET said the  green carpet  "red carpet" and showed us some of their styles for the BET Awards '11. Here are some of my favorite's:

LaLa looked great I give her an A+ on this Tom Ford mini sequined dress!

Kelly Rowland showed up in a Marchesa Cocktail dress (My kind of style), Jimmy Choo sandals and Lorraine Schwatz jewels. I thought she look awesome!

I always loved EVE sense of Fashion she is so raw and edgy with her looks. I love this Thomas Wylade leather getup on her she look so punkish!

I have seen Nelly grow up in fashion since he first came on the scene from his plain white tee,ice out chains and throwback jerseys and I can say he matured alot over years. He look great in his nice white collared long t-shirt under the black vest. Along with his grey jeans, Aviators shades and Converse sneakers.

Wiz and Amber Rose showed up looking like a fashionable couple. Wiz stepped on the carpet with looking casual with his fitted hat,Army vest, blue jeans and tan sneaks why his girl Amber Rose showed off her curves in this cutup and dyed black jumpsuit and sexy pumps!!!

So those are the people I picked that looked great to me. Some people didn't make my list cause they looked a hot mess. I just don't think some people shouldn't have came there looking like a "figure skater" if you know who I mean lol. So comment and tell me what you though of the red carpet "green carpet" (lol) fashions.

The Patrice Tales Are Back!!!

Hey Everyone! The Patrice Tales are back with a brand new look!! I have decided to spunk up myblog just a bit with a better background and features along with brand new categories!! Iam very happy of this change!!! My blog was so boring and the dull pink was gaving me writer's block "lol". So I decied to give my blog a little flavor by adding a retro brown feel to it. I really do like it, it is more of me and it gives the blog a new look and better feel. I also got rid of my previous banner and went with the original header that blogger put above on the main header. I took it down as well because it was only temporary and it didn't match the new background. Also on another note ALLPOST FROM NOW ON WILL BE ON THE HOMEPAGE. NO MORE TABS ABOVE!!!

So what's new you might ask?? Well a couple of new things I had added were:

Will Be Back Soon!!

Hey Everyone! The Patrice Tales here. I just wanted to tell everyone that The Patrice Tales will be on "hiatus" for awhile. I just want to adjust somethings around starting with making all my topics on one homepage. I have found out having to space out stories from one another is too much and a pain in the A$$. Also I just felt that every story should have it's own comment box so people can comment on the stories they like instead of one comment box on one page with a thousand topics. Not to mention I also have the Blogger application on my smart phone and the application does not have my tabs Fashion and Music on there. The application just have my homepage where I can upload stories to only. So I figured what if Iam on the go and wanna post a topic or what if the Internet is down at home for a long period of time? How can I post in categories you know? So to cut that issue all topics and stories will be on my homepage from now on. So until I get that all together The Patrice Tales will be down just for a couple of days. I will though post the long awaited interview with Kay Pharaoh (which you can read below) and I will remove my previous posts from the Fashion Section and move them to my homepage as well. Speaking of posts... Iam very pissed that my interview with New York Rapper Wunda845 have been erased (another reason I wanna just put everything on my homepage). I don't know what happen, but not just his interview- the whole music section is gone :(

So to nip that in the bud like I said earlier all post from now on will be on this page (homepage). Sorry for the lack of updates as well, but I will update as soon as possible. Thank you to those who do enjoy my blog and read it! I really do Thank You! I will be back so please bare with me :)
